SAIT’s latest post-diploma certificate program will teach you how to use artificial intelligence to enhance your skillset — adding another tool to your toolbox

No, the robots aren’t coming for your job. At least, not if you up your game with artificial intelligence (AI). SAIT’s newest post-diploma certificate program will help anyone (no coding expertise required) understand how to integrate AI into their existing set of skills.

The 30-week Integrated Artificial Intelligence certificate program debuts Spring 2024, as the first accredited AI program in Alberta. Through it, SAIT is shifting the narrative beyond AI replacing jobs by training tomorrow’s workforce to use these tools to find new solutions and lead innovation in the workplace.

The program will focus on how to leverage generative AI tools like ChatGPT and CoPilot to work more efficiently, while examining ethical implications and responsible practices. Students will explore the world of Large Language Models and their functionality. Once familiar with the range of tools available, they’ll be ready to train models to fit their needs and the needs of an organization.

“What makes our program stand out is integration. We’re teaching you how to use the new reality of technology to enhance your performance as an individual,” says Dr. Banks Odole, Academic Chair, Data Portfolio and Artificial Intelligence, School for Advanced Digital Technology (SADT).

The certificate also incorporates a capstone project where students will gain hands-on experience in AI implementation as they work on projects addressing real-world challenges using the foundational skills learned throughout the program.

“As partners in our community and society, we need people to understand the implications of using technology smartly, and the potential power and influence of these tools,” says Amos Ngai, Associate Dean, SADT. “We’re moving into this next phase of technology and it is exciting to see where it can go.”

Part of the program is learning how computers have been taught to recognize and duplicate patterns, and maximizing our ability to communicate with technology through artificial intelligence. By unlocking the full potential of AI, you can accelerate your career path and become a sought-after expert in systems integration and operation.

“Once you’ve completed the program, you’ll be able to show an employer how to leverage AI and to see where it fits within an organization. These tools are available so let’s use them to our benefit,” says Ngai.
