5 new programs to check out at SAIT

It's not too late to apply for Fall 2024, and that means you can be out there in industry, with the skills you need to build a lucrative career, before you know it.

Whether you're wrapping up your last year in high school or considering a career change, SAIT has you covered. Here are five new SAIT programs accepting applications for upcoming semesters! Is one of them calling your name?

Early Childhood Education certificate or diploma

Does working with young children sound fulfilling to you? If you're a person who enjoys spending time with youngsters, fostering playful environments and nurturing kids' budding skills and personalities, our Early Childhood Education (ECE) diploma or certificate is for you.

In these programs — both the one-year certificate and the two-year diploma — you’ll learn the fundamentals of early childhood education and caring for children as young as newborns up to age 12. This program includes classroom instruction, project-based courses and hands-on experience working with children, families and ECE professionals in community settings.

Potential careers: Early childhood educators and assistants, education policy researchers and consultants

Interactive Design Diploma

Is your mind constantly whirring with creative ideas? Do you see advertisements and think I can make that better, or scroll website's and go this interface on mobile? In 2024? Digital design is everywhere and constantly evolving. Our Interactive Design Diploma will give you the skills to lead and adapt to change.

In this two-year program, you'll enhance your skills in design thinking and push your creative boundaries as you learn about design fundamentals, digital design tools and best practices. You'll have the chance to create project plans and develop problem-solving skills, emphasizing user-centred design.

After completing their first year of study, Interactive Design Diploma students narrow down their education to focus on their major:

  • Graphic Design
  • User Experience
  • Web Design and Development

Potential careers: Web designer, web developer or programmer, graphic arts technician, graphic designer or illustrator

Fitness and Wellness Management Diploma

If living and healthy lifestyle and empowering others to do the same brings you happiness, you could be the perfect fit for our Fitness and Wellness Management Diploma.

You'll spend two years learning about the physical and mental aspects of healthy living. You'll also study sport and fitness psychology, and how to use that knowledge to develop fitness training programs. You'll complete case studies and explore local activities to best support your clients on their lifelong path to wellness.

Potential careers: Recreation and fitness program directors and manager, program consultant, personal trainer, dietician or nutritionist

Transport and Heavy Equipment Technology Diploma

Sitting in a cubicle isn't everyone's cup of tea. If you're more drawn to tools than keyboards, we've got you covered. With our agricultural and industrial roots, transport and heavy equipment maintenance is an industry found across Alberta. Be a part of it with our Transport and Heavy Equipment Technology Diploma.

For two years, you'll train both in the classroom and a shop to use diagnostic tools and maintain modern equipment. You'll learn about working on transport trucks, backhoes, excavators, farm equipment and more necessary machinery that keeps Albertan industries running. Our industry-aligned program will prepare you to enter the workforce and to take technical training exams to specialize further.

Potential careers: Contractor and supervisor on heavy equipment crews, heavy-duty equipment mechanic, engineer officer, electrical mechanic, and other operator jobs

Pre-employment Recreation Vehicle Service Technician Certificate

How does jack of all trades sound to you? If you like variety in your mechanical and electrical work, welcome to the exciting and employable world of RV maintenance. Our RV Service Technician Certificate is a perfect fit for someone who likes to do it all.

This program is only 16 weeks, and you'll learn in an RV service shop, applying knowledge by doing. You'll gain practical experience and see first-hand the procedures and techniques used in this specialized industry.

Potential careers: Automotive service technician, autobody collision estimator, part installer or servicer, electrical mechanic
