The ‘T’ in SAIT stands for ‘Technology’ – and it has since 1916. We inspire, educate and innovate, with and for our students.
On the heels of the world’s first transatlantic solo flight by Charles Lindbergh in 1927, SAIT introduces a two-year Aeronautical Engineers program with eight students.
Engineering instructor, Alex Higgins, is honoured for his PITA correspondence course materials on Steam Engineering.
The sweeping “S” in SAIT’s first logo represents four main areas of programming – trades, engineering technologies, applied arts and international education.
SAIT becomes a founding sponsor of the Skilled Trades and Technologies, with 150,000 attending WorldSkills and the SAIT campus serving as the Competitors’ Village.
SAIT opens the doors to its 740,000 sq. ft. Trades and Technology Complex – the largest expansion in SAIT’s history, adding capacity for an additional 8,100 students.

With a shared commitment to build Calgary’s tech-talent ecosystem, Opportunity Calgary Investment Fund (OCIF) seeds the startup of a Digital Transformation (DX) Talent Hub – with up to $8.2 million over five years – as part of the new school.
