Brian Slot brings over 30 years of experience in tourism and hospitality to SAIT, where he’s passionate about shaping future industry leaders. His career spans food and beverage, event management, marketing, and operations, with leadership roles at Hyatt Hotels, Canadian Rocky Mountain Resorts, The Calgary Stampede, WinSport, and Travel Alberta.
A proud SAIT graduate, Brian started in Hospitality and Tourism Management before earning a Bachelor of Hotel and Resort Management from the University of Calgary and a Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from Royal Roads University. His focus on sustainability and ethics reflects his commitment to building a responsible, forward-thinking industry.
Brian stays connected to global trends as an active member of Meeting Professionals International and the Professional Convention Management Association. He’s held the Certified Meeting Professional designation since 2011, underscoring his credibility in the events world. At SAIT, Brian blends decades of expertise with mentorship, inspiring students to think creatively, act ethically, and lead with confidence.

SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.
We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta.
