Life at SAIT

Omar teaches in the BBA and BA programs and has been with SAIT since August 2022.

He takes great pride in leading hands-on and industry-specific classrooms. For Omar, education is a perfect platform to challenge yourself, build your belief in yourself, and convert ideas into actions. He is a compassionate coach and mentor, receiving raving feedback from students, faculty, and management about his dedication to the wholesome student experience.

Education

He holds a B.Sc. in Computer Engineering, an MBA (Finance and International Business), a PhD in Management and Post-Doctorates in Science and Technology Management, and Integration and Development of Latin America.

Professional accomplishments

Omar is a passionate researcher with varied interests, having published several other titles, including book chapters on Strategic Management and Ethical Intelligence. His first book, “Caudal Autotomy as a Change Mechanism for the Survival of Organizations,” has been a huge hit and led to several other publications on strategic communications, organizational change, and management.

A jack of many trades and a lifelong learner, Omar recently finished a Microsoft Office Specialist certification and previously earned his RFRA (Registered Financial and Retirement Advisor) designation. He has also worked towards a diploma from the Canadian Institute of Financial Planning.

One of his many remarkable achievements includes an award for the most cited article in a Spanish Journal called Journal Desarrollo Gerencial (University Simon Bolivar, Colombia).

In addition to his teaching and research interests, Omar serves on scientific and research committees in universities across the US, Venezuela, Colombia and Panama. One of his recent pet projects includes launching a bilingual Hispanic cultural journal – he hopes to welcome publications related to all events, achievements and important political decisions which influence the Hispanic communities in Canada, more specifically, Venezuelan and Colombian communities.

Oki, Âba wathtech, Danit'ada, Tawnshi, Hello.

SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.

We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3.
