Life at SAIT
Nancy Smith is the Academic Chair for the Business Administration diploma and oversees the marketing courses across the School of Business's certificate, diploma, and degree programs.
A student-centered educator and marketing and communications leader, Nancy brings over 25 years of experience in instruction, curriculum development, leadership, integrated marketing, and continuous improvement.
Education
Nancy holds a Master of Education (Curriculum and Instruction) from the University of Regina and a Bachelor of Arts Recreation Administration (Tourism Studies) from the University of Alberta.
Professional accomplishments
Nancy's extensive background includes leadership roles for the City of Calgary and Travel Alberta. She has also shared her expertise in the classroom as an instructor at the University of Calgary, Mount Royal University and the Canadian Marketing Association. Nancy’s collaborative mindset, and commitment to innovation have been widely recognized, with her accomplishments including multiple award-winning brand campaigns and speaking at global conferences.
Before moving into her Academic Chair roles, Nancy joined SAIT in 2022 as a Marketing Manager in SAIT’s Marketing Department. There, she led strategic marketing initiatives and managed a team of recruitment specialists focused on domestic enrollment.

SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.
We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta.
