Life at SAIT

Jayme joined SAIT in 2012 as a Program Assistant for the Welding and NDT Department in the School of Manufacturing and Automation. She is currently Program Assistant for the School of Business supporting academic chairs for BA Year 1, Economics, BA and BBA Marketing, and AIM/OFPR programs. She also supports close to 85 Instructors. Beyond event management and program support responsibilities, Jayme trains new administrative staff as well as all faculty on an ongoing basis. Her work portfolio includes room bookings, conference planning, event organization, classroom assistance, and facilitation of textbooks and supplies.

Jayme’s favorite part of the job is the ability to support and help her colleagues. She enjoys making everyone else’s job easier. As a mother, Jayme believes in supporting her colleagues’ wellbeing.

Outside of work, Jayme is passionate about golf, reading, walking, watching sports, and drinking new wines and gins – travelling one day would be a dream!  Jayme’s greatest joys are her three children and three (soon to be four) grandchildren.

To students, Jayme says that they should always be themselves and do their very best. She encourages them to take up every opportunity to learn and enjoy every moment of their educational journey.  In addition to her School responsibilities, Jayme also works to support the AOSA Student Group (AIM program), The Content Club (Marketing program) and the GEO International Student Group (BA YR1).

Education

Jayme has a Secretarial Sciences Diploma from St. Clair College, Ontario. She is also certified as an administrative professional. Her most renowned designation is “Amazing Admin”.

Professional Accomplishments

Prior to joining SAIT, Jayme was the Office Administrator at Ethier, a consultancy firm. Jayme was also the owner and operator of a boutique cafe in Bayfield, Ontario. For her, this was one of the most rewarding ventures she ever undertook.

SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.

We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta.
