Life at SAIT
Dr. Amer Rafique joined the School of Business in 2023 and teaches a range of Management and Supply Chain courses, including Operations Management, Project Management, Logistics and Introduction to Supply Chain Management. For Dr. Amer Rafique, the decision to join SAIT was easy – an exceptional group of welcoming and supportive colleagues, a people-first culture, student engagement focus, collaborative practices, and a vibrant campus life were hard to walk away from.
Instruction at SAIT is a unique opportunity for Dr. Amer Rafique to share his varied educational and industrial experiences. His goal is to fuel the sustainability of this world by leaving something meaningful for future generations to inherit. As an instructor, he is a dedicated advocate for patience, positivity, humility, growth mindset, and critical thinking.
Outside work, Dr. Amer Rafique has an unwavering love for sports, including squash, tennis, Formula 1, soccer and cricket. During his time in China, he also captained the Beijing Cricket Club team. Beyond sports, Dr. Amer Rafique is an avid traveler and has visited 20 countries so far.
Education
Dr. Amer Rafique has a bachelor's in aerospace engineering and a master's in engineering management from the University of Engineering and Technology in Pakistan. He completed his PhD in Multidisciplinary Design and Optimization from Beihang University, China. Dr. Amer Rafique is a Certified Professional Engineer.
Professional Accomplishments
Dr. Amer Rafique began his industry career in Pakistan as an Aerospace Engineer. He eventually served in managerial and executive roles in several multinational engineering organizations. Dr. Amer Rafique has expertise in Operations, Project Management, and Supply Chain Management. He has also had a prolific career in academia, having taught at multiple universities in Pakistan, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia and Canada. Through his teaching years, Dr. Amer Rafique has contributed significantly to curriculum development, accreditation, industry-academia partnerships, and student mentoring initiatives.

SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.
We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta.
