This bridging course is specifically designed to support students preparing for the Red Seal exam by exploring key topics impacted by recent curriculum changes during the AIT review.

If you're an Electrician apprentice who completed your third period before this update, you can complete this online, self-paced bridging course to ensure you're still well-prepared to pass the Industrial Electrician Red Seal exam.

The course covers content shifted from the fourth year to the third year of the Electrician Apprenticeship program, filling any gaps created by these adjustments.

Key topics include:

  • Alternators and Generators
  • Direct Current (DC) Machines
  • Synchronous Motors
  • Single-Phase Motors
  • Control Transformer Installations
  • Lighting and Emergency Systems
  • Outdoor Lighting Installation Requirements
  • Electrical Installations in Patient Care Areas

The changes to the Electrician apprenticeship curriculum will not affect the grades of anyone who has previously completed their third period of training before September 2025.

Oki, Âba wathtech, Danit'ada, Tawnshi, Hello.

SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.

We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta.
