Dr. Lahiru P. Silva serves on the Board of Governors as a faculty representative. He is an instructor in SAIT’s Bachelor of Science in Construction Project Management program, bringing more than 30 years of combined academic and industry experience in construction management, project delivery, and organizational leadership.
Dr. Silva holds a Doctorate in Project Management from the University of Calgary and is a licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) and Project Management Professional (PMP). Prior to joining SAIT, he held positions within the energy and construction sector and continues to contribute to the industry as a consultant specializing in project management and productivity improvement.
Passionate about student success, applied research, and industry collaboration, Dr. Silva is committed to advancing innovation and strengthening connections between post-secondary education and Alberta’s construction and infrastructure sectors.

SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.
We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta.
