Overview
In the world of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), safety is more than a priority; it’s a responsibility. The Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) course equips you with the expertise to manage radiation risks, ensure compliance with regulations, and create a safer work environment. Designed for industry professionals, this course provides the critical knowledge you need to develop and maintain an effective Radiation Protection Program in line with CNSC regulations.
Through a structured curriculum, you’ll gain a deep understanding of radiation properties, learn to apply industry regulations, implement safety procedures, and respond effectively to emergency situations. From shipping radioactive materials to conducting audits and preparing incident reports, you’ll acquire the knowledge you need to confidently take on the role of an RSO.
This course is ideal if you:
- want to advance your career in NDT by becoming a certified Radiation Safety Officer
- need to stay compliant with CNSC regulations and industry standards
- are responsible for radiation protection, safety training, or regulatory documentation
- want to handle emergency situations and ensure a safe work environment confidently.
To be successful in this course, we recommend you have a Certified Exposure Device Operator (CEDO) and/or Radiography Level I or Radiography Level II certification.
Upon successful completion of this course, you'll be able to:
- examine the properties of radiation
- recognize the effects of radiation on matter and biological systems
- outline the requirements for an effective radiation protection program
- apply the appropriate regulations and standards in relation to industrial radiographic operations
- create a safe working procedure
- practice safe operating procedures as outlined by the CNSC
- prepare documents to ship and transport radioactive materials
- evaluate an emergency procedure for a situation involving radioactive materials
- prepare an incident report.
