Admissions and registration assistance

Add a second year to your program or change your program

If you wish to continue your studies for a second year or change your program, the process is simple:

  1. Send us an email request to coned.international@sait.ca indicating your intention to add a second year to your program or change programs.
  2. We’ll send you an invoice for the tuition deposit of $3,500. You have 21 days from the invoice date to pay the deposit.
  3. Once payment is received, your second-year enrollment will be confirmed, and you will receive the Letter of Acceptance for your new program.

Study permits

Understanding your study permit conditions is crucial for maintaining legal status in Canada:

  • Program changes: Notify the IRCC of any program changes.
  • Work authorization: Most study permits allow part-time work (24 hours/week during studies, full-time during breaks).
  • Renewal process: Begin renewal 3-4 months before expiration.

Begin the renewal process 4-6 months before your current permit expires. Processing times can vary, and you want to maintain legal status throughout your studies.

Most study permit holders can work up to 24 hours per week during regular academic sessions and full-time during scheduled breaks. Check your study permit conditions for specific restrictions.

International students who wish to work in Canada after completing their studies may qualify for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP). Visit our website to learn more about eligibility for the PGWP, when and how to apply, and more. If you feel you need more support, make sure you speak to our International Student Advisor before submitting an application.

You must notify Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) of any program changes. Consult with our International Student Services team before making any changes.

International students should be informed and prepared before they leave Canada and re-enter. Before making any travel plans for regular scheduled academic semesters, you must ensure that you are familiar with ConEd International standards to avoid or minimize potential impacts in your program of study and status in Canada.

Additionally, before leaving and upon returning to Canada, you must hold:

  • a valid passport
  • a valid study permit
  • a valid TRV or an eTA (if applicable)
  • proof of your student status (e.g., confirmation of enrolment letter from ConEd).

When you make your travel plan, check your document expiry date and renew them if necessary before you travel. Please contact our team for more information and support.

Registration process

Our Professional Certificate programs are cohort-based. This means you do not need to register for courses yourself; you will be enrolled by the Continuing Education Advising team. The registration process will be completed approximately one month before your class start date, and you will receive a notification once your class registration is confirmed.

You do not need to register yourself for courses. All students will be enrolled in the same courses by the Continuing Education Advising team.

We do not have online options available at this time. All classes are conducted in-person and students are expected to attend all in-person sessions.

Oki, Âba wathtech, Danit'ada, Tawnshi, Hello.

SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.

We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta.
