Overview

This Level II Ultrasonics course for Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) professionals emphasizes specific testing procedures and variables affecting test results. Learn to perform instrument checks, weld inspections and immersion testing for the Canadian General Standards Board (CGSB) Ultrasonics Level II examination.

Training topics covered include:

  • review of level I material
  • advanced theory
  • applied ultrasonic techniques
  • shear wave inspection
  • calculating water path
  • distance amplitude correction (DAC)
  • sizing techniques for flaws
  • evaluation of flaws for type of defect
  • instrument calibrations review ASTM-E317
  • codes and specification.

You must complete INSP 127 Ultrasonics Level I before registering for this course.

You may also have any UT 1 course from another institution that meets the requirement of NRCan or existing CGSB UT1 certification.

If you have completed this requirement at a school other than SAIT, email your proof of completion documents to ConEdAdvising@sait.ca at least one week before the course begins.
