Overview
Need more practice? The NDT Ultrasonic Testing Review is a refresher course designed to reinforce key theoretical concepts and practical techniques in preparation for the NRCan CGSB Ultrasonic Testing (UT) Level 1 practical certification exam.
Increase your confidence and reinforce your UT skills using specialized equipment in a safe, supervised lab environment. The course includes a guided activity book to walk you through the method, with instructors available to provide mentorship and support as needed.
You may use all or part of the 8-hour lab time for focused practice.
To be eligible to take this course, you must be at least 18 years old.
We recommend that you have completed an NRCan-approved course or training in the NDT Ultrasonic Testing (UT) method before registering for this course.
Upon successful completion of this course, you'll be able to:
- identify and correctly set up standard UT equipment and accessories
- review safe operating practices and care for UT Equipment
- follow and adhere to written instructions for the performance of Level 1 tasks
- perform basic straight beam and and angle beam calibrations using IIW blocks
- demonstrate scan and evaluation techniques in accordance with written instructions
- interpret A-scan signals to identify reflector types, locations, and approximate sizes.

SAIT will provide the NDT UT equipment and any additional supplies needed.

You'll need to bring/wear CSA-approved steel-toed boots during lab time.
