Overview

Communicating Effectively will equip you with essential communication skills for today's diverse and evolving workplace. You'll explore the fundamentals of effective communication, including verbal and non-verbal techniques, active listening, and storytelling. Through practical exercises and real-world applications, you'll develop skills to engage in meaningful conversations, deliver impactful presentations, and adapt communication strategies for in-person, remote, and hybrid work environments. The course emphasizes building rapport, fostering inclusivity, and navigating the challenges of modern workplace communication, including virtual meetings and social media considerations.

Upon successful completion of this course, you'll be able to:

  • analyze the impact of effective communication on personal performance and organizational success in diverse workplace settings
  • apply verbal and non-verbal communication techniques to engage in meaningful conversations and build professional relationships
  • design and deliver effective presentations using storytelling techniques and audience-centred approaches
  • adapt communication strategies to ensure clarity, collaboration, and engagement across in-person, remote, and hybrid teams.

SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.

We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta.
