Overview
Revit Advanced builds on your experience with the software and supports the final stage of the Revit Essentials Certificate learning journey. In this micro-credential course, you’ll move into production-focused work by applying approaches that improve the quality, consistency, and coordination of project information.
You’ll learn how to customize your Revit environment to support efficient workflows and consistent project setup. From there, you’ll work with structural modelling tools, conceptual massing, and material assignments to shape and refine design ideas. You’ll also create schedules, legends, and coloured area plans that help organize data, interpret space, and communicate design intent. Throughout the course, you’ll practice integrating linked information from external sources to keep your model coordinated within a broader project context.
As you progress, you’ll develop competencies in interface customization, structural layout, conceptual modelling, material management, data organization, and graphic clarity. These experiences strengthen your ability to support advanced building information modeling (BIM) production tasks where well-organized, visually clear, and coordinated information is essential. You’ll also gain experience applying iterative design approaches that support informed decision making across a project’s development.
You’ll complete the course fully online and at your own pace, following a recommended weekly structure. Although self-paced, you’ll be supported by an industry-experienced instructor who provides guidance, feedback, and assessment. Through demonstrations, guided exercises, discussion boards, and applied assignments, you’ll move from focused skill development to a final portfolio project. By the end of the course, you’ll be able to produce building information suitable for professional use, including structural models, conceptual massing studies, schedules, and area plans for architecture, engineering, and construction environments.
This course is ideal if you:
- want to refine your Revit skills to support production-level BIM work
- need advanced tools for modelling, analysis, or documentation
- are preparing for roles that involve organizing building data or coordinating information
- want portfolio work that demonstrates readiness for complex digital projects.
You must complete CADD 104 - Revit Intermediate before registering for this course.
Upon successful completion of this course, you'll be able to:
- configure custom user interface settings for using Revit to increase productivity and consistency
- construct a 3D model using structural components for a building to highlight your project
- demonstrate workflows to create conceptual volumes using mass modelling.
- create and assign materials to 3D objects to assist in the visualization of your model
- create and manage schedules to keep your drawing organized
- create and edit area schemes and area plans to allow for easier interpretation of the layout and spaces.
