This course reinforces the technical and analytical skills essential for roles in exploration, production, and operations. By the end, you’ll have a comprehensive industry report that showcases your expertise and problem-solving abilities.

This capstone course is designed for oil and gas professionals, technical specialists, and students completing the certificate program. It mirrors the kind of analytical work required in petroleum roles, giving you hands-on experience with industry research and reporting.

This course is ideal if you:

  • want to develop research and reporting skills relevant to the petroleum industry
  • need experience organizing and presenting technical findings in a structured, professional format
  • are completing SAIT’s Upstream Petroleum Industry certificate program and want to apply your knowledge to a practical industry project.

SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.

We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta.
