Overview

The true test of a well begins after drilling is complete. The real challenge is ensuring it produces efficiently and reliably over time. This course provides oil and gas professionals and technical specialists with the expertise to design effective completions, maximize reservoir recovery, and manage well interventions that keep operations running at peak performance.

This course covers critical well completion techniques, including cased and open-hole completions, liner and gravel pack systems, and horizontal well completions. You’ll explore the impact of reservoir mechanics on completion design, gaining insight into how different drive mechanisms influence well performance. Finally, you'll learn how to troubleshoot well issues through interventions, workovers, and recompletions.

This course is ideal if you:

  • work in well operations, design, or maintenance and want to deepen your expertise in completion strategies
  • need a solid understanding of how reservoir mechanics influence well performance and recovery
  • are responsible for well interventions, workovers, or recompletions and want to improve operational decision-making
  • are looking for an industry-aligned course that fits into your schedule while delivering valuable technical skills.

You must complete PTPR 123 - Well Evaluation prior to registering for this course

Upon successful completion of this course, you'll be able to:

  • identify the properties of hydrocarbons
  • describe the factors that impact drive mechanisms
  • describe common completion types
  • identify common completion equipment
  • explain what is involved in completion operations
  • define what is meant by well interventions and identify the different types of well repairs.
