Overview
Produce and manage a full-scale live event with Immersive Event Production Capstone. Building on SAIT’s Event Technician Certificate of Achievement, in this practical, lab-based course, you’ll gain experience planning, executing, and post-producing an event using integrated audio, video, and lighting systems.
Through guided collaboration with industry-experienced instructors and your peers, you’ll take on key production roles — designing lighting, implementing multicamera video, running live and recorded audio, and editing final media. You’ll troubleshoot challenges on the fly and refine your technical skills in a real-world setting, preparing you to confidently handle professional event production demands.
By the end of this course, you’ll have executed a complete event from pre-production through final mix and video edit, producing portfolio-ready work. This micro-credential course provides formal recognition of your hands-on experience and technical proficiency.
This course is ideal if you:
- have completed SAIT’s Event Technician Certificate of Achievement
- want more immersive, hands-on experience before entering the industry
- are passionate about live events, multimedia production, and professional AV work
- want to build a portfolio to showcase to potential employers or clients.
You must complete the Event Technician Certificate of Achievement before you can register for this course.
Upon successful completion of this course, you'll be able to:
- develop a pre-production plan to specified guidelines
- edit media elements for an event
- implement a lighting plan for stage and video
- implement a multicamera video system for recording and live switching
- implement an audio plan for live and recorded events
- run an event
- mix and edit the final audio and video.

The following equipment is required for the first day of this course:
- 32GB USB stick or portable SSD
- C-wrench
- Cellphone or video camera capable of shooting HD video 1920x1080 @ 29.97 (30) fps with audio
- CSA-approved hard hat
- CSA-approved safety shoes
- Heat-resistant work gloves

SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.
We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta.
