Overview

This course equips professionals in the residential construction industry with the skills to apply advanced building science principles in project planning, integrate indoor environmental quality concepts and analyze carbon emissions. You'll master the "House as a System" concept, utilize the four control layers, conduct basic building science calculations and select appropriate materials for climate resiliency.

This course also covers strategies for passive heating and cooling and tools for measuring embodied carbon, promoting sustainable and environmentally friendly building practices.

Upon completing this course, you'll be able to apply building science principles to residential project planning, integrate indoor environmental quality concepts and analyze carbon emissions in construction. You'll also learn to select climate-resilient materials and implement strategies for passive heating and cooling, promoting sustainable building practices.

SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.

We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta.
