Overview
Equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) knowledge is fast becoming an important skillset in Canadian workplaces and communities. Everyone can benefit from developing an inclusive mindset and building advocacy skills while empowering themselves and others to engage thoughtfully, empathetically and respectfully with people in their communities.
Through this course, you'll learn approaches and strategies to advance EDI in your workplace and personal circles. These microlessons introduce you to important definitions and concepts in EDI, provide self-awareness tools, and present strategies to advance inclusion and equity.
The Province of Alberta is working in partnership with the Government of Canada to provide employment support programs and services.
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
- identify principles of and approaches to equity, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace
- examine strategies and behaviours that mitigate biases, stereotypes, and microaggressions
- describe principles and approaches of intersectionality and inclusion in the workplace
- describe the impacts of ableism and strategies for inclusion
- apply strategies and approaches for turning allyship into action
- discover strategies to create an inclusive workplace for the 2SLGBTQ+ community
- explain the purpose and benefits of decolonization and implement decolonization approaches and practices in the workplace
- apply strategies and approaches for moving towards anti-racism.

SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.
We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta.
