Overview
Basic Business Law introduces fundamental legal principles affecting businesses, contracts, liability, employment, and financial transactions. You’ll explore different types of business organizations, contract formation, and remedies for breaches. Key topics include negligence, occupier’s liability, product liability, employment law, and human rights legislation. You’ll also examine credit and collections law, sales agreements, and the role of insurance in business compliance with health and safety regulations. Through case studies, discussions, and applied activities, you’ll develop the ability to assess legal responsibilities and make informed business decisions.
Upon successful completion of this course, you'll be able to:
- analyze the legal principles governing business organizations and contract law to assess rights, obligations, and liabilities in various business and contractual relationships
- apply the basic principles of negligence, occupier’s liability, and product liability to assess legal responsibility in real-world scenarios
- evaluate employment and legal obligations to determine rights, responsibilities, and potential liabilities in workplace disputes
- analyze legal agreements and financial instruments in credit transactions
- apply legal principles to sales and debt collection processes
- evaluate key insurance concepts and major types of commercial insurance and apply the legal responsibilities of businesses under insurance law and the Health and Safety at Work Act.
