Overview

This program delivers valuable technical and practical knowledge in partnership with Supply Chain Canada and GoLean Six Sigma on essential components of the supply chain process and the tools & techniques used by supply chain management practitioners for success. You’ll learn about operations, procurement, logistics, performance analytics and how to establish, maintain and enhance an efficient supply chain process.

Program outline
Courses are scheduled in three different time blocks: 8 am - 12 pm, 12:30 pm - 4:30 pm, or 5 pm - 9 pm.
After you have paid your tuition deposit and confirmed your student visa, you will receive a survey asking about class time preferences. Results will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Advance your career in the supply chain with the latest skills in procurement. Supply Management is the process of managing the flow of goods, services, knowledge and the resulting finances into the organization. In this course, you’ll explore procurement— the process of acquiring the goods and services an organization needs to meet its strategic goals — and how it fits into Supply Management.
You’ll be introduced to the tactical aspects of procurement and the information and techniques that enable junior to intermediate procurement staff to work more effectively. For those not currently working in a procurement role, this course will help prepare you to become a productive, contributing member of a procurement team.
In this course you will explore the big picture of integrated logistics. Integrated logistics focuses on ensuring customer needs are satisfied through effective management of processes and activities, from the sourcing of materials and services, through the conversion/production phases and then finally to the customer through a distribution network. You'll gain new skills as you learn to recognize that organizations that expend efforts in their logistics activities realize significant value and competitive advantages through the evolution of integrated logistics.
In this course, you’ll explore the advantages and limitations of the four main modes of transportation: road, rail, air and water, intermodal transportation, and pipelines. You’ll also examine topics including the role of freight forwarders, brokers, and integrated transportation companies. You’ll be introduced to transportation documentation, experience basic load planning, gain an overview of contracts, insurance, customs clearance and letters of credit. Finally, the fundamentals of Incoterms 2020 and their impact on buyer-seller responsibility for transportation will be also be explored.
In this course, you’ll explore the basic and essential aspects of Operations Management at the tactical level. Operations Management involves the transformation of goods or services from form to another to add value for a customer. You'll cover topics including quality management programs, how operations management strategies are linked with goods and service processes within facilities to achieve a competitive advantage and the importance of a forecast and its process. Additionally, you’ll gain an understanding of resource management and operations scheduling.
Learn the communication skills you need to succeed in the supply chain including listening skills, spoken and written communication, persuasiveness, and the ability to explain complex issues up and down the organization and around the supply chain. This course covers how to create and deliver strong presentations and style method for being professional in your spoken communication. You'll also learn the critical ability of building effective supply chain relationships within your organization as well as non-verbal communication such as appearance and body language. The course guides you to produce clear, concise, compelling reports and written communication, and examines the do’s and don’ts in electronic communication.
Knowing how to read financial statements and how business decisions are made will enhance your abilities to effectively perform supply chain management activities. It also helps you to better communicate the impact of such activities to senior leaders and business partners. This course provides a comprehensive overview of how finance impacts supply management and focuses on practical accounting and financial skills through knowledge of basic terminology for accounting and finance in supply management. You'll be introduced to the principles of accounting and budgeting as well as using key ratios to interpret financial information. This course also covers some background and theory of business operations. You’ll also gain an understanding of how supply management practitioners make a business case for an investment and evaluate investment opportunities.
Marketing plays an important role in supply chain management. It enhances the supply chain team’s responsibilities of planning, procurement, and distribution with investment in customer value and relationship building. Additionally, supply chain professionals have a better understanding of the Marketing practices used by suppliers in promoting their goods and services.
This course focuses on the role and purpose of marketing, market research, segmentation and selection, and understanding your competition with a special emphasis on how marketing drives supply management. You’ll explore the differences between marketing and sales, marketing products and services, as well as B2B and B2C marketing. Finally, you’ll look at the marketing mix—the “4 Ps” of product, pricing, place, and promotion, as well as strategies for market leaders and market followers.

As the rate of change within the operating environment increases, following yesterday’s procedures becomes risky. An organization must continuously formulate and implement new strategies. In this course, you will explore the conditions for successful competitive bidding and the elements of the bidding process, including RFPs and RFQs. You will explore the tools required to turn this into a competitive advantage for your enterprise.
This course provides you with a roadmap for leading or participating in successful negotiations. You will focus on the entire negotiation process and learn the activities and techniques to be used from the preparation stage to the actual face-to-face negotiations.

How to apply for this certificate
Applicants must meet all of the following eligibility criteria:
- Have a post-secondary degree or diploma - You must submit the following documents for assessment
- Post-secondary transcripts, mark sheets, or examination results AND
- Post-secondary parchment or graduation certificate.
- If your documents were not issued in English, you must provide a certified translated version from a certified translator along with the the original documents (in the original language).
- If your name has changed, we will require validation of the name change (marriage certificate, etc.).
- SAIT also accepts external assessments from IQAS, WES, and others.
- Demonstrate proof of English proficiency
- The preferred method of demonstration is an approved test assessment with an IELTS test score of a 6.0 or equivalent.
- Meet eligibility criteria for all necessary study and work permits.
Certifications and professional designations
Upon successful completion of this program, you’ll receive:
- a SAIT issued Supply Chain Management Professional Certificate
- SAIT micro-credential (SAITMicro) digital badge for each eligible course in the program
- Supply Chain Training (SMT) diploma issued by Supply Chain Canada
You'll also be prepared to challenge the Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification exam.
Some courses included in the program may be eligible for training credits or professional development units toward industry certifications. Additional education, exams or work experience requirements may apply.
Costs
2025/26 tuition and fees
The following estimated costs are effective as of July 1, 2025.
The estimated total cost of tuition and fees is based on the suggested schedule of study. Following a modified schedule will impact the fees you pay per semester and may alter final costs.
Application fee: $175
Tuition deposit: $3,500 - due 15 days after recieving your offer letter.
If you are completed a second program, you must pay an additional deposit fee to hold your seat. Tuition deposits may be transfer one time to any future intake open at the time you make your request. For addtional transfers, you must submit a new application and pay the non-refundable tuition deposit.
Tuition payments are due one month prior to the first day of your semester.

SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.
We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta.
