Program outline
Courses are scheduled in three different time blocks: 8 am to 12 pm, 12:30 pm to 4:30 pm, or 5 pm to 9 pm.
After you have paid your tuition deposit and confirmed your student visa, you will receive a survey asking about class time preferences. Results will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Required courses & electives
This course — an immersion into Microsoft Project software — will help you manage your projects successfully. As you gain an overview of project management skills, you'll explore this program as a crucial tool to create a work breakdown schedule, sequence tasks, assign resources and sort and filter project data. From there, you'll build your project software skills by learning to track progress, adjust schedules, print various reports, manage and consolidate projects and import, export and customize data.
With so many methods of communication available to us today, it's difficult to know how to get your message across in the most effective manner. This course will focus on honing your interpersonal communication skills so you'll be able to communicate in the workplace with power and purpose confidently.
Understanding how to design and deliver digital solutions is a key pillar in an organization’s digital transformation. This online course introduces you to the art of the possible by exploring in virtual classroom and workshop sessions how organizations can transform their performance through digital solutions. You'll gain a framework for innovation through digital technologies that enable organizations, businesses and individuals to build unique competitive advantages.
This course is designed for individuals with basic computer skills looking to gain solid foundational knowledge and practical skills in Excel. You'll focus on how to use Excel for reporting purposes, including data evaluation, visualization, management and controls. You'll also learn how to handle and analyze large datasets, extract meaningful insights and present findings in a visually appealing manner. Additionally, you'll receive practical guidance on using formulas for analysis to create dynamic updates, conditional formatting and consistent and accurate charts and reports. This program deals with business by developing a plan, including a BATNA, preparing for meetings, handling objections and reaching an agreement. You'll explore how negotiations are more than a skill — it is a strategic management process to ensure an appropriate balance of workflow that creates more productive and profitable workplaces.
Pursuing a new career is a challenge for every student, but unique concerns exist for students new to Canada. This foundational course (workshop) gives international students an overview of the essential career skills required to find a role and excel in the Canadian job market. Over the course of a two-and-a-half (2.5) hour session, you'll gain the fundamental skills to land your first job and start positioning yourself as a sought-after project management professional. You'll learn to create a compelling resume through practical examples and hands-on activities. Using the STAR Method, you'll explore how to interview for a job with confidence. In addition, an industry expert from the Project Management Institute (PMI) will lead a discussion on the advantages of professional membership, including the importance of building a professional network. The best tool an international job seeker has is understanding how to position themselves in the Canadian job market. This workshop will do just that by giving you the skills, tools and knowledge you need to pursue a career in project management confidently.

In any business environment, you'll be regularly called upon to make presentations — whether you're presenting a product to a customer or an idea to your co-worker or boss. On some occasions, you may be asked to make a more formal presentation in front of a group. Whenever you make a presentation, it reflects upon you as a professional.
This course provides you with the tools you need to ensure your presentations are compelling. You'll have an opportunity to plan, prepare for and make a presentation in front of a group. This presentation will be recorded so you can personally review your strengths and any areas requiring improvement.
In this course, you will learn essential concepts and principles for successful project management. Based on the latest version of the Project Management Institute’s (PMI’s) A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide), discover the 12 Principles of Project Management and the key tools and templates you need to know to initiate, plan, execute and close a project. You will also learn how project managers can deliver value through effective leadership and communication.
In this course, you will learn how to initiate and begin the planning process for your projects properly. This course introduces you to various organizational structures and explains the spectrum of project delivery methods, from waterfall to agile. This will equip you to select the best delivery approach for your project environment.
From there, you will learn how to write a project charter, perform a stakeholder analysis and create a project communication plan. You’ll even explore the difference between project management and leadership and discuss leadership styles.
In this project planning course, you'll focus on the activities and functions of developing a comprehensive plan to create the project deliverables. You'll build a solid foundation for project planning and execution by learning how to develop a definition of a project scope. You'll move on to learn how to create key documents to help structure your projects, such as schedules, budgets, risk registers and resource, quality and procurement plans. In addition, you’ll investigate the human dimension of project planning while also learning how to design a project organization tailored to the needs of your project and how to develop key metrics to measure and communicate project performance.
In this project risk management course, you'll focus on advanced concepts and special techniques for effective project risk management. This course is based on the Project Management Institute’s (PMI’s) A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide) and The Standard for Risk Management in Portfolios, Programs and Projects.
You'll start with exploring vital concepts and success factors of risk management and learn how to create a tailored risk management plan. You'll learn a variety of methods to help you identify specific project risks, prioritize them and quantify the potential outcomes and impacts of significant risks. You'll also discuss how to plan and implement appropriate risk responses in a controlled way to ensure successful achievement of your project’s objectives.
This project execution course, based on the Project Management Institute’s (PMI®) A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide), focuses on effectively leading the various components of a project to maximize overall delivered value. Learn to use common processes for performing high quality work and controlling changes, while also using proven tools and techniques for conducting procurements, developing the project team, communicating with stakeholders and regularly measuring project performance. Additionally, to ensure project risk is diligently managed, you’ll explore common tools and techniques for regular risk monitoring and control.
Enhance your understanding of the agile process and explore the extensive opportunities to practice implementing agile best practices throughout a project’s life cycle. With this course, you’ll learn to effectively implement agile practices that require a paradigm shift, which include a new mindset and new techniques. Learn about agile concepts, such as the four primary principles of theme/initiatives, epics, user stories, and tasks, the minimum viable product (MVP), project envisioning, team velocity and estimating and prioritizing user stories. You’ll also explore how to manage risk, while employing effective techniques to identify key stakeholders and their success criteria and the best practices for leading agile teams.
In this course, you’ll gain an in-depth knowledge of all areas of agile project management with a detailed exploration into developing an agile team, including understanding client needs, creating user stories, estimating required resources and prioritizing features. You’ll also improve your leadership skills with agile coaching and collaboration techniques, including learning how to integrate with teams using different methodologies.

In your workplace, conflict is a normal and expected aspect of working on a team. It exists in human relationships at work as well as in other areas of our lives. When handled poorly, conflict can damage relationships, lower morale, and impact productivity. Handled effectively, it can create opportunities for collaboration, effective resolution and healthy change through patience and communication.
This conflict management course will help you determine the best approach to workplace conflicts and challenging situations. You will learn to apply an interest-based conflict management approach. You will also be provided with tools that will assist you in managing conflict and challenges more effectively.
The Disciplined Agile Scrum Master instructor-led training course shows you how to use disciplined agile (DA) to improve your team's way of working. You'll learn the foundational agile and lean practices that DA supports, practice using the tool kit to solve problems and learn how to build a high-performance team.
Disciplined agile is not a framework but a toolkit that focuses on the decisions you need to consider, the options available to you and the trade-offs associated with these options.

How to apply for this certificate
Applicants must meet all of the following eligibility criteria:
- Have a post-secondary degree or diploma - You must submit the following documents for assessment
- Post-secondary transcripts, mark sheets, or examination results AND
- Post-secondary parchment or graduation certificate.
- If your documents were not issued in English, you must provide a certified translated version from a certified translator along with the the original documents (in the original language).
- If your name has changed, we will require validation of the name change (marriage certificate, etc.).
- SAIT also accepts external assessments from IQAS, WES, and others.
- Demonstrate proof of English proficiency
- The preferred method of demonstration is an approved test assessment with an IELTS test score of a 6.0 or equivalent.
- Meet eligibility criteria for all necessary study and work permits.
Certifications, designations and credentials
Upon successful completion of this program, you’ll receive:
- SAIT Professional Certificate – IT Project Management credential
- SAIT micro-credential (SAITMicro) digital badge for each eligible course in the program
Some courses in this program can be used toward education requirements to write the following PMI certification exams:
- Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)® Exam
- Project Management Professional (PMP)® Exam
- Disciplined Agile® Scrum Master(DASM) Exam

Costs
2025/26 tuition and fees
The following estimated costs are effective as of July 1, 2025.
The estimated total cost of tuition and fees is based on the suggested schedule of study. Following a modified schedule will impact the fees you pay per semester and may alter final costs.
Application fee: $175
Tuition deposit: $3,500 - due 15 days after recieving your offer letter.
If you are completed a second program, you must pay an additional deposit fee to hold your seat. Tuition deposits may be transfer one time to any future intake open at the time you make your request. For addtional transfers, you must submit a new application and pay the non-refundable tuition deposit.
Tuition payments are due one month prior to the first day of your semester.
Books and supplies
There may be additional fees required for books and supplies, accommodations and any professional association membership or certification exams (if applicable).
Technology
You are required to have a personal laptop, meeting the standard hardware/software specifications for use during the duration of your studies.

SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.
We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta.
