Welding Introduction

Grade range: Available for youth currently enrolled in Grades 7 through 12

This program is designed for you to explore the first steps of being a welder! You will learn different techniques, styles, and theory around the skilled-trade of welding. Throughout these sessions you will have the opportunity to put together take-home projects and use welding equipment in the same SAIT labs used by students in our welding programs.

Note: This program is intended for those that have not take a previous welding camp/programming at SAIT. Curriculum and projects will remain similar to our Welding Introduction summer camps. All curriculum and projects are subject to time constraints and may differ slightly from previous offerings.

Dress code requirements: This program requires a specific dress code that must be worn during each session. Dress code for this program is as follows:

  • Participants with long hair should bring elastics to tie back their hair.
  • Long sleeve shirt (100% cotton)
  • Jeans (no rips allowed)
  • Canvas free closed-toe shoes. For example: rubber boots, cowboy boots, hiking boots, steel toe boots
  • Running or converse-liked shoes, slip-ons (Toms, etc), and any open-toed shoes are all prohibited
  • Steel-toe boots/shoes are highly recommended

Safety note: Eye and face protection will be provided. Participants are required to adhere to the safety precautions outlined by the instructors; safety infractions may lead to removal from the program.

Welding Intermediate

Grade range: Available for youth currently enrolled in Grades 7 through 12

This program is designed for you to continue developing your welding skills that you learned in the introductory offering! Throughout these sessions you will have the opportunity to put together take-home projects and use welding equipment in the same SAIT labs used by students in our welding programs.

Cooking Introduction

Grade range: Available for youth currently enrolled in Grades 8 through 12

This program is designed for you to develop your cooking skills and learn how the chefs do it! Through hands-on cooking practices and kitchen equipment skill building, you will be taking home delicious creations after each session.

Baking Introduction

Grade range: Available for youth currently enrolled in Grades 8 through 12

This program is designed for you to develop your baking skills and become a master of the pastry arts! During this program you will learn the fundamentals of baking and make you own baked goods to take home.
