Overview
To be successful in the field of Media and Entertainment Technology (MET), it’s essential to be able to effectively communicate and collaborate with your colleagues, customers and managers. You also need to know how to speak the “language” of MET, which encompasses video systems, standards and instrumentation.
In this course, you’ll learn the essential technical concepts you need to competently and confidently discuss issues with your peers in a dynamic work environment. You'll increase your understanding of various systems and requirements to accelerate your understanding and set you up for learning on the job.
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:
- recognize the role and importance of using and applying foundational concepts related to video systems, standards, and instrumentation
- define and discuss basic video concepts including sequential scan, resolution, bandwidth, and signal requirements
- relate the basics of color image transmission concepts to GBR and component video
- discuss basic video test equipment to support video concepts
- analyze a simple video system
- describe a typical industry reference video system
- describe the processes of creating digital composite video signals
- explain the basics of MPEG and Transport Streams
- analyze complex Transport Streams using TS terminology
