See how oil and gas move from the well to processing facilities, pipelines, and market.
In Production Operations, you’ll explore how hydrocarbons move from the well to market through production, processing, and transportation systems. You’ll examine artificial lift methods, surface facilities, pipelines, and processing operations, and learn how these systems work together to manage produced fluids and maintain efficient production.
This course is delivered online in a flexible asynchronous format so you can progress on your schedule. Industry-experienced instructors provide guidance, answer questions, and offer feedback throughout the course. Your learning is assessed through assignments, quizzes, and a final exam.
By the end of this course, you’ll be able to interpret production systems and performance, explain how facilities and infrastructure support operations, and contribute to conversations about production optimization and operational decision-making.
This course is ideal if you:
- want to understand how oil and gas are produced and delivered to market
- work in production, facilities, or pipeline operations
- need to connect well performance to infrastructure and production systems
- are preparing for operations or production-focused roles.
No formal prerequisites are required for this course. This course is designed for learners at a range of experience levels. An interest in how oil and gas are produced and processed will support your success, and all key ideas are introduced within the course.
Upon successful completion of this course, you'll be able to:
- describe common artificial lift methods and their design criteria
- discuss the characteristics of produced fluids
- describe pipeline systems
- describe oil processing facilities
- describe the production and processing of oil sands bitumen
- describe gas processing facilities
- discuss production restrictions.
