Overview

Projects can fail for a variety of reasons, often stemming from issues in planning, execution or external factors. Make planning one of your best tools.

This course, based on the Project Management Institute’s (PMI’s) A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide), focuses on the activities and functions involved in developing a comprehensive plan to create the project deliverables.

You'll gain a solid foundation for project planning and execution by learning how to develop a project scope definition. You’ll also learn how to create key documents to help structure your projects, such as schedules, budgets, risk registers and resource, quality and procurement plans. In addition, you’ll investigate the human dimension of project planning, how to design a project organization tailored to the needs of your project and how to develop key metrics to measure and communicate project performance.

This course is ideal if you:

  • are preparing for project management roles or enhancing skills to align with PMI’s standards and best practices
  • are responsible for managing projects and want to enhance your skills to improve the efficiency and effectiveness in managing projects
  • are pursuing PMI Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)® or Project Management Professional (PMP)® certification.
