Course sections for PROJ 020, 021, 022, 023, 024, and 025 with start dates before March 1, 2026, use PMBOK 7 content; sections starting on or after March 2, 2026, use PMBOK 8 content.

Learners completing the SAIT Project Management Certificate of Completion may take any combination of PMBOK 7– or PMBOK 8–aligned courses. If you are preparing for PMI certifications, note that the CAPM exam currently aligns with PMBOK 7. If you are preparing for the PMP exam, please review PMI’s official exam transition timelines.

Overview

Are you ready to answer the call for savvy project managers who can effectively lead projects and drive success? 

The Project Management Certificate of Completion supports project managers and professionals at different stages of their careers in building confidence, clarity, and practical capability across the project lifecycle. Designed with emerging and in-progress professionals in mind, the program focuses on developing sound judgment, leadership capability, and adaptability in today’s project-driven environments. You’ll gain a stronger understanding of how to approach projects thoughtfully, make informed decisions, and lead effectively through change.

You’ll develop these capabilities through real-world case studies, practical exercises, and engaging collaboration. In each course, you’ll gain hands-on experience with effective tools, methods, and customizable templates that can be applied immediately in the workplace. This applied learning approach helps you navigate changing project requirements and manage the complexities of projects across different organizational environments.

This program is ideal if you:

  • are preparing for project management roles or enhancing skills to align with PMI’s standards and best practices
  • work in a role requiring effective management of projects, budgets, timelines and stakeholder expectations
  • are pursuing PMI Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)® or Project Management Professional (PMP)® certification
  • already have a PMI designation and want to take project management training for professional development units.

There are no eligibility requirements for this program. Any prior or current education and work experience from any industry or sector will enhance your professional development journey.

Upon successful completion of this program, you'll be able to:

  • apply the 12 Principles of Project Management to guide ethical, effective, and value-driven project delivery
  • select and apply appropriate project delivery approaches, including Waterfall and Agile, based on project context and constraints
  • lead projects by applying effective communication, collaboration, and leadership strategies to engage stakeholders and teams
  • develop and manage comprehensive project plans, including scope, schedule, cost, quality, and resources
  • apply Agile methodologies, tools, and mindsets to support adaptive planning and continuous improvement
  • analyze project performance using monitoring and control techniques to support informed decision-making
  • assess and manage project risk using qualitative and quantitative methods to improve outcomes and value delivery.

Program outline

To earn this certificate, you must complete the six mandatory courses below. Although you can take the courses in any order, we recommend starting with PROJ 020 Project Management Essentials.

How to register for this certificate

Once you have registered for any course offered in this certificate, you will be automatically eligible to complete the certificate. You will have up to three years to complete this program. You may track your progression by signing in to your Continuing Education student account.

Certifications and professional designations

Upon successful completion of all the required courses in this certificate program, you’ll receive an electronically issued SAIT Certificate of Completion and transcript. For each SAIT Micro-credential earned, you'll also receive a shareable digital badge.

Courses in this program may be used toward educational prerequisites for attaining PMI certifications or toward professional development units (PDUs) to maintain certifications. Additional education, exams and/or work experience requirements may apply.

Courses in this program may also qualify for Blue Seal Certificate training hours.

SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.

We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta.
