Overview
This course will help you understand the significance and requirements of design in the construction of buildings and facilities. You'll learn theoretical and practical electrical design concepts and drafting techniques for commercial facilities, lighting and motor control applications.
The course topics also include:
- how to interpret and draw electrical symbols
- illumination design
- choosing and protecting conductors
- distribution systems
You'll also learn how to complete a major commercial electrical design project incorporating analysis, calculation and design competencies. Canadian Electrical Code requirements will be discussed in conjunction with the design project, and drawings will be completed using AutoCAD Release 2000 and an Auto Electric software package.
You must complete CADD 111 - CADD Fundamentals or ELEC 143 - Electrical Essentials, or have equivalent industry experience before you can register for this course.
