Overview

With the increasing presence of electric and hybrid vehicles (EVs and HEVs) on our roads daily, the demand for certified automotive service technicians capable of safely diagnosing, servicing and repairing them is also rising. Are you ready to incorporate this specialized knowledge and skillset into your Automotive Service Technician (AST) toolkit?

In Electric Vehicle Technology and Service, you'll build on your previous understanding of conventional vehicle systems to diagnose and service the most common high-voltage automotive electric vehicles. The course covers electric vehicle and hybrid electric vehicle battery construction, fuel cells, electric motor controllers, inverters and auxiliary accessories.

The course combines self-paced online learning modules with hands-on training led by expert industry-trained instructors at our on-campus automotive training facility. You'll demonstrate your skills and knowledge through online quizzes, practical shop activities, class participation, and a supervised final written exam.

This micro-credential course was made possible with the Government of Canada’s investment in Canadian Colleges for a Resilient Recovery (C2R2), a coalition of post-secondary institutions, including SAIT, focused on developing demand-driven workforce training solutions for a clean economy.

This course is ideal if you:

To register for this course, you must provide documented proof that you are a certified Automotive Service Technician Journeyperson (for Alberta) or a certified Automotive Service Technician Journeyperson with Red Seal Endorsement (for Alberta or any other Canadian province or territory except Quebec).
