Overview

The purpose of the exam is to perform a CAN/ULC-S537 verification on the test boards which would include all panel and device tests. The verification report includes a legend and device page with all the field device's location pre-entered. All device and panel literature are available including a sequence of operation and riser drawing of the test system.You will be required to complete the CAN/ULC-S537 Appendix C verification form and identify and record any deficiencies/recommendations but will not be required to correct them.

This practical exam is a requirement for the Canadian Fire Alarm Association (CFAA) Technician certification.

Complete the CAN/ULC-S537 verification form to identify and record any deficiencies and/or recommendations.

  • Verify fire alarm system report.
  • Document fire alarm system.
  • Test and inspect field devices and related circuits.
  • Demonstrate the required system response times.
  • Inspect control unit or transponder.
  • Inspect power supply.
  • Inspect emergency power supply test.
  • Test ancillary device circuit.
  • Test interconnection to the fire signal receiving center.
  • Test and record field device.

There are 100 total marks with a pass mark of 80%. Bonus marks will be given for valid recommendations.
