Overview
Cultivate leadership capacity in others, recognize emerging talent, and support knowledge transfer across diverse aviation teams. In Aviation Leadership Development and Succession Planning, you'll learn to identify leadership potential across technical and operational functions, use inclusive evaluation frameworks, and design development pathways that reflect Canada's diverse aviation workforce.
To support this learning, the course is delivered online over four weeks and combines independent study with a mandatory two-hour virtual group session every week. You’ll work through real succession and development challenges with peers and learn from each other's operational contexts.
You'll explore practical frameworks, assessment tools, and applied planning exercises that help you create mentorship programs connecting technical expertise with leadership growth. You’ll learn strategies for supporting professionals transitioning into supervisory roles, preserving institutional expertise, strengthening coaching capability, and supporting underrepresented groups through inclusive leadership development.
As you continue expanding your Leadership Engine Blueprint, you'll refine how you develop others, strengthen coaching capability, and support knowledge transfer across diverse teams. You'll evaluate leadership potential using culturally responsive approaches and examine your propelling question through the lens of succession, knowledge preservation, and workforce sustainability. With AI CoPilot support as a thinking partner, you'll capture these insights and finalize the Succession and Mentorship Framework component, which you'll carry into the final course of the program.
By course end, you'll understand how to build sustainable leadership pipelines that reflect Canada's aviation diversity and uphold safety and operational continuity. You’ll leave with practical tools to design succession plans, mentor emerging leaders, and support knowledge transfer that strengthens both organizational capability and the future of the aviation workforce.
