Dual-Credit Pre-Employment Recreational Vehicle Service Technician

Learn to install, diagnose, repair and maintain interior and exterior components on motorhomes, travel trailers, fifth-wheel trailers, truck campers, tent trailers and van conversions.

The Recreational Vehicle (RV) Service Technician trade offers training that develops one of the most diverse applied skill sets in North America. You’ll gain a wide array of skills as the program integrates portions of 27 other certified trades in Alberta. It’s also the only RV program in Alberta that aligns with the apprenticeship model.

This program is held at SAIT's Point Trotter campus. Students must be able to travel to and from campus to attend classes.

Is this the right fit for me?

This program is the right fit for students in Grade 11 or 12 who:

  • enjoys a variety of hands-on work
  • aptitude for mechanical and electrical work
  • problem-solving

Pathways to post-secondary

Our Dual-Credit Pre-employment RV Service Technician program is equivalent to the first year of the apprenticeship program with 360 hours of training that includes both theory and hands-on lab-based components.

This program will also prepare you to challenge the first-period Trade Qualification (TQ) Apprenticeship Exam. This is a compulsory trade — to work in this trade in Alberta, you need to hold a recognized Journeyperson Trade Certificate or be a Registered Apprentice.

Admission requirements

Successful completion of the following courses: 

  • At least 50% in English Language Arts 10-2
  • At least 50% in Math 10-3
  • At least 50% in Grade 10 Science

There may be other pre-requisite or co-requisites required by the school board for admission into this dual-credit program. Check with your local school board for further information.

To qualify for graduation from SAIT, students must pass all courses, attain a CGPA of 2.0 or better and complete the course requirements within the prescribed timelines.
