Overview

Measurement Lab will allow you to take the knowledge you have gained in previous courses and put it into the practical use in the SAIT's state-of-the-art flow and wellsite labs. You will have an opportunity to apply your knowledge on real devices via operating, calibrating and verifying meters that measure live fluids.

Some of the lab activities include:

  • bench calibration of pressure transmitter,
  • operation of selected flow instruments,
  • collection of flow,
  • temperature and pressure measurement,
  • interpretation of drawings and datasheet wire tracing exercise.

This final course is the practical part of the Hydrocarbon Measurement Certificate that enhances your applied learning of the Hydrocarbon Measurement program.

You are required to complete SAFE 160 - Safety Orientation prior to starting this course. Please provide your printed proof of completion on the first day of the lab.

SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.

We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta.
