Overview

This course will provide the supplemental education you may need to successfully write your Government A4 exam.

Topics covered will include:

  • electrical energy management
  • plant and equipment management
  • power plant construction
  • commissioning and decommissioning
  • retrofitting

This course cannot be used as a credit towards work experience or as a credit towards a SAIT certificate, you must complete all eight sections to receive work experience credit and a certificate for your learning: A1, A2, A3, A4 and B1, B2, B3, B4.

If you are seeking credit in place of work experience, please contact your provincial boiler branch to ensure our courses are accepted. You'll have four months to complete this course, with a final exam at the end.

To be successful in this program, it is recommended you have a minimum of Grade 12 Math, Physics and English. If you have not completed these courses, consider taking an Academic Upgrading course

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be issued an official result letter, which you can submit with your ABSA exam application. SAIT's passing grade is 50%, while the ABSA Certificate of Competency exams require 65%. 

Power engineering certification requirements and transfer provisions vary by province and territory across Canada. Check with the regulatory authority in your desired work location for details.
