Learn through applied experiences, from gaming cases to liquid cooling systems, honing your skills in identifying, assembling and troubleshooting hardware components. Navigate desktop support issues, covering computing basics, safety protocols and internal hardware comprehension for real-world scenarios.
This course emphasizes IT customer service, guiding you through effective communication and documentation practices, including ticketing systems and asset management.
We'll also explore operating systems like Windows, Linux, MacOS and Chrome OS, and networking essentials, including media types, cables, connectors and storage devices.
Completing this course along with CMPH 002 - A+ Operating Systems and CMPH 003 - A+ Networking and IOT, will provide you with the theoretical knowledge and applied experience necessary to challenge the CompTIA A+ certification and embark on a dynamic career in IT.
Upon completion of this course, you'll be able to:
- identify computing basics and set up a computer
- assess computer safety hazards and environmental controls
- understand how to interact with customers in a professional manner and the importance of keeping documentation records
- discuss computer tools, ticketing systems, asset management systems and basic troubleshooting guidelines
- compare and contrast network media types
- summarize cables and connector types used by computers
- explain the purpose of form factors and how they affect the size of motherboards, cases and components
- discuss the function of internal hardware components
- highlight the main differences between Windows, Linux, MacOS and Chrome OS
- compare and contrast internal and external storage devices and associated file systems.
This is a preparatory course to be taken in advance of a CompTIA A+ certification exam. The official certification exam is not included in this course and may be booked separately through CompTIA.
