Departments, divisions and schools 

The official names of offices, divisions, departments, teams, groups and schools are to be used in all SAIT publications and communications.

Names often shortened to acronyms should be spelled out on first reference, followed by the acronym without periods in brackets.

Acronyms should only be used in internal communications.

Avoid ampersands.

Titles and designations

It is acceptable to use “Dr.” ahead of names in editorial copy or speeches — typically only on first reference.

A blue checkmark icon. Dr. Rose Hatcher will be in attendance.

The exception is for SAIT President and CEO Dr. David Ross, who is always referred to as Dr. Ross for any subsequent mentions.

PhD should be listed after the name for business cards and cutlines.

Omit periods for abbreviations that begin and end with a capital letter.

SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.

We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta.
