Jennie Gilbert, Leadership Development Specialist

Having been one of SAIT’s most sought-after facilitators for the past decade, we are delighted to have Jennie on board as our Leadership Development Specialist.

Jennie brings a sound understanding of the SAIT audience and their expectations, matched with a depth of knowledge and experience in Leadership and SAIT’s soft skills deliveries. Jennie works closely with our team to ensure that your team receives relevant and appropriate content.

Most recently, Jennie took on the challenge of creator, curator, designer and facilitator for Leading Beyond ANY Title – SAIT’s unique leadership journey through the six intelligences required for Leadership in the 21st Century. The journey challenges classic leadership training and meets the sweet spot required by organizations, their leaders and employees in ensuring that growth and development are the outcomes of the effort and energy put into the journey.

Jennie’s adult education career started with the Board Development program and the Calgary Stampede, but since then, she has:

  • created, curated, designed and now facilitates the unique SAIT Leadership Journey comprised of six intelligences required for Leadership in the 21st Century
  • co-presented on SAIT’s Leadership Breakfast Conversations
  • become a learner experience advisor for new products in the School of Advanced Digital Transformation
  • been the recipient of SAIT’s 2019 Original Award
  • designed and delivered customized leadership deliveries for Silvera Community Managers, supervisors and admin professionals, CBC North, Calgary Public Library and DeBeers, which she delivered at the DeBeers northern site of Gahcho Kue and on campus at SAIT
  • designed and structured various courses, including Collaborative Intelligence, Performance Management, Mental Toughness, Time Management, Building Personal Power, and Performance & Professionalism, to name a few
  • delivered many courses within the Applied Management Certificate, including Assertiveness for Personal and Business Success, Communicating Effectively, Team Building, Creating Psychological Safety and Trust, Conflict Management and many more
  • lead lunch & learns and short SAIT Employee Service deliveries
  • hosted various webinars and co-presented with Envision during the pandemic
  • developed creative alternatives for enhancing the learner’s experience, including full use of liberating structures in face-to-face and virtual deliveries, light-board sessions, video scribes to aid SAIT’s name, clients' understanding of products and changing how materials are produced.

Her experience and accomplishments don't end there. Outside of work, Jennie is a hockey enthusiast – field hockey specifically! She's played for many years and now works with Field Hockey Alberta’s Board of Directors and Provincial teams.

She's also been to Mt. Everest base camp three times! Each time with school groups, including donations to the highest dentist in the world!

If you were to ask where her favourite place to be was, she would say, "With family, happily married with three fabulous kids, there’s no better time than family time – wherever in the world that might be!"

Oki, Âba wathtech, Danit'ada, Tawnshi, Hello.

SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.

We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta.
