Select your program below to see your orientation date, any additional supplies you may need, required or recommended preparation courses and who to contact if you have questions.

Machinist Technician

Orientation date: Wednesday, Aug. 28

Required personal protective equipment: CSA-approved steel-toe boots and safety glasses are required on the first day of class.

Preparation courses: To support your success, SAIT offers some short courses before classes start, including PREP 100: The SAIT Experience (recommended) and ETHI 110: SAIT Ethical Practices (required). Learn more about these courses. 

Required textbooks: The  Fall 2019 booklist will be available on Tuesday, Aug. 20. We recommend you wait to buy your textbooks until your first few days of classes.  

Anticipated supply costs: Approximately $200 for PPE.

Mechanical Engineering Technology

Orientation date: Wednesday, Aug. 28

Preparation courses: To support your success, SAIT offers some short courses before classes start, including PREP 100: The SAIT Experience (recommended), MATH 123 (recommended) and ETHI 110: SAIT Ethical Practices (required). Learn more about these courses.

Non-Destructive Testing Foundations

Orientation date: Tuesday, Sept. 3

Required personal protective equipment (PPE): Steel-toe boots and safety glasses. We recommend not purchasing PPE until after you start the program; we will discuss industry-approved PPE in class.

Pre-employment programs

Pre-Employment Industrial Mechanic (Millwright)

Orientation date: Not applicable for winter 2019.

Required personal protective equipment: CSA-approved steel-toe boots and safety glasses are required on the first day of class.

Preparation courses: It is recommended students take PREP 100 and ETHI 110. Learn more about these courses.

Required textbooks: The fall 2019 booklist will be available on Tuesday, Aug. 20. We recommend you wait to buy your textbooks until your first few days of classes.

Pre-Employment Welding

Orientation date: First day of classes.

Required equipment/tools: We recommend not purchasing until after you start the program; we will discuss industry-approved equipment/tools in class.

Preparation courses: It is required students take ETHI 110. Learn more about this course.
