June 08, 2015

Standing alongside industry-partner Worthington Construction Ltd., SAIT researcher Dean Jones co-presented at the Alberta Chapter — Canada Green Building Council's 18th Annual Alberta Sustainable Building Symposium in Edmonton this May.

SAIT researchers assisted Worthington with the development of a prototype mobile, green water closet, through a design review and testing methodology for performance monitoring. Ultimately, the portable water closet will be commercialized as a self-contained system in remote areas.

Also highlighted were GBTAC's service offerings, SAIT student involvement in applied research, and supporting grants (a Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council Technology Access Grant and a Canada Foundation for Innovation grant to support the construction of SAIT's new GBT Lab and Demonstration Centre).

About the event

The Alberta Sustainable Building Symposium (ASBS) is a yearly networking event that brings together building owners and operators, architects, engineers, planners, builders, green product suppliers, and planning-and-building policymakers to gain insight into future trends and celebrate local successes.
