This program is offered on campus via an intensive, full-time 35-week elite program.

Your career

Oil and gas production accountants are responsible for compiling, managing and reporting financial and production data for the oil and gas companies.

Production accountants are specialists in their field and must have a sound knowledge of petroleum products in addition to an understanding of the industry's financial practices and government regulations.

Graduates find work as production, operations, revenue or joint venture accountants in the petroleum industry.

Graduates of the Accounting – Oil and Gas Production program have a 100% employment rate.

John S. Belgrave Memorial Award

The John S. Belgrave Memorial Award is awarded by CAPPA to SAIT students who are enrolled in the fulltime Fast Track practicum program.

This award honours John S. Belgrave, a leader and an innovator in the production accounting field. John was a great friend of CAPPA and along with CAPPA and CAPPA's many volunteers helped improve education for production accountants. John passed away in 2001.

To encourage those students in the oil and gas production accounting program at SAIT, CAPPA offers a $1,000 award to that one fulltime student in the practicum program who, in addition to academic achievement, demonstrates such attributes as leadership, resourcefulness and helpfulness. The recipient will be nominated by his or her fellow classmates and approved by the program coordinator at SAIT. Deadline is June 30 each year.

Student success

Students with higher secondary or post-secondary marks usually experience greater success in SAIT programs.

Applications for the fall 2014 intake of this program are accepted starting February 1, 2014.
