Course Description

The Building Structures I course provides you with an overview of building analysis. You will compute reactions, shear forces, axial forces, bending moments, and deflections of determinate and indeterminate structures. You will study methods of analysis such as double integration and moment distribution - sway and no sway. You will also identify structural systems and use computer software to create structural models. For structures supporting heavy moving load you will use influence lines.

Prerequisite(s):

  • SMTL 1010 - Statics and Strength of Materials
