Giving Day to support student funds
The SAIT community is a caring community, no doubt about it. We prove it time and time again. That spirit shone brightly during our centennial year when staff, students and alumni undertook over 200 philanthropic projects on campus and throughout Calgary. That spirit will continue in our 101st year during our first SAIT Giving Day when we invite you to support student success now and into the future.
Two new SAIT funds were created for Giving Day to help ensure our students will receive the best applied education possible.
The SAIT Alumni Scholarship
The SAIT Alumni Scholarship Fund was created to increase the effectiveness of our student award program — bursaries and scholarships for our students. Some endowed scholarships and other awards that were established decades ago, don't produce sufficient funds to effectively assist our students. This new fund will "top up" some awards that haven't kept up with increases in the cost of living and the cost of education. Your gift will help reward students who achieve academic excellence and will help relieve financial they need so they can keep up with their school work. As an alumni fund, we are inviting SAIT graduates to contribute, especially those who may have received assistance during their time at SAIT. It's a great way to pay it forward, to give a leg up to future generations of students.
The SAIT Student Success Fund
We created the SAIT Student Success Fund because a well-rounded education includes activities outside the classroom and workshop. Your support for this fund will help ensure our students have access to a wide variety of learning experiences that will contribute to their well-rounded SAIT education. It will supplement students' fundraising activities to cover costs for entering competitions and attending conferences associated with industry-related campus clubs. The fund will also provide support for equipment and travel associated with such projects. A portion of your investment in the SAIT Student Success Fund will also contribute to providing mental health resources and academic assistance as well as improving our world-class facilities and technology.
Giving Day is a 24-hour fundraising event that brings the greater SAIT family together for a common cause — supporting our students. The goal is to raise $25,000 in 24 hours to support funds like the two above that have a direct impact on the success of our students. We invite you to get involved because every gift, every post, every thank you creates a ripple effect that enhances SAIT's reputation and makes a tangible difference in the lives of SAIT students.
