Camp’s in for summer at SAIT
Record number of young camp enthusiasts kick off summer season
You know it's officially summer when the campers arrive.
Camps came roaring to life today and will bring about 700 children and youth (Grades 4 to 12) to campus every week throughout July and August — a new record for SAIT.
"This year, we surpassed the all-time highest enrolment for summer camps," says Rozlynn Wick, Strategic Youth Initiatives Coordinator, Learner and Academic Services. "There are upwards of 3,900 registrations for summer 2018."
With more than 80 programs to choose from, including: Real World Engineering, X-Treme Robots, Fitness and Fuel, Mini Bakers, Weld-a-Saurus and Movie Making Magic, campers will have plenty of opportunity to put their minds, bodies and imaginations to work — and, of course, to have some fun. Each camp is taught by a SAIT instructor or industry professional.
Camp program destinations range from the soccer field to the forensic lab and the world of Minecraft — and there's still time to register. Visit the SAIT Summer Camps for program availability.
New year-round programming for children and youth
While back to school may not be front of mind in July, registration will soon open for some expanded year-round programming for children and youth at SAIT.
Based on current summer camps offerings, SAIT will be hosting day camps during teachers' conventions, spring break and PD days for children and youth in Grades 1 to 9.
"This new year-round programming builds on existing programs offered through Athletics and Recreation and SAIT Summer Camps," says Wick. "We're really excited to bring more kids to campus — to show them what SAIT has to offer."
Registration — through the SAIT Summer Camps website — opens mid-July.
SAIT also offers a variety of academic and sports-focused evening and weekend programs for junior high and high school students, as well as swimming lessons, bowling and birthday party bookings.
